Barry Williams Powerlifter Powerlifting Barry is APT Pro Gear Sponsored
I won all 3 of the Iron Boy events I entered with a personal best 450 raw @ 198. (Which was a record till Keith Payne made it a drug free event and retired all the past records).
My first APF meet was the Granite City Barbender in Mt. Airy in 05. I hit a 525 which I was happy with for my fist meet in gear.
At the NC State meet in Clayton that same year, I went 606 to qualify for Sr. Nationals in Vegas.
A few months later I hit 611 in the next Mt. Airy meet.
In Vegas things went all to Hell. I made my opener of 575 then went for 611 again. On my second attempt my forearm broke on the way up. I ended up placing 2nd to Jason Coker. The two of us ended up good friends so it wasn't a total loss.
I took around 6 months off from benchin' and healed up. Some friends asked me what was next so I said "What the Hell, Nationals I guess". I trained for 5 weeks, went to Daytona and won.
