Derek Weaver Teen Powerlifter Powerlifting
Derek Weaver graduated from Westfall High School in 2005 and
started seriously lifting my freshmen year. He started lifting for football,
to get bigger and stronger. Derek started his high schools powerlifting team during his
junior year along with 3 other guys. That was the first powerlifting he had
ever done and had never really thought about competing seriously until his senior year.
Derek started lifting with Jon Elick, Dave Raines and Barry Sowers
and those were the ones who first encouraged him to start competing. At Dereks first
meet he benched 405, which made him happy but he knew that he could improve. The
last meet he was at he was able to succesfully bench 475 and almost got 500
as a teen in the superheavy weight class. Derek plans to lift as a teen as long
as possible and hopefully break some records. As of now he plays college
football for Tiffin University.
