Jeffrey Begue
Since 2005, Jeffrey Begue from Canton, Ohio has been a staple of consistency in the competitive bench pressing scene. In December of 2004, Jeff bench pressed 500 pounds in his first meet and never looked back. A lifetime drug-free lifter, Jeff has since claimed 6 World Champion titles in the WNPF and in the WABDL in just 5 short years. He also lays claim to four single-ply World Records (one in the WNPF and three in the WABDL) and has been listed in the Top 100 by Powerlifting USA magazine three times. Currently, Jeff is approaching status held by only a handful of lifters in the World. He is one of two drug-free single-ply lifters ever to have bench pressed 600 pounds or more in 4 different weight classes in sanctioned competition, doing so as a 308 (717.3 pounds), 275 (601.8 pounds), as a 259 (609.5 pounds) and most recently as a SHW (650.2). On July 18th 2009, Jeff joined the elite 700 pound bench press club by locking out a 717.3 pound effort at the WABDL Great Lakes Regional Championships in Lansing, Michigan. The future is looking brighter than ever for Jeff as he is looking to continue his trademarked consistency as a 242 pound lifter in 2010. Representing the Iron Chamber Gym in Canton, Ohio, Jeff is prepared for battle and willing to do whatever it takes to continue his amazing run. When asked who he would like to thank for his success, Jeff responded by saying the following. "I have been extremely blessed to to remain pretty much injury free for the most part. Aside from that, I have so many people who have played a part in my career to this point. First, my AMAZINGLY supportive wife Andrea and my three boys Aeden, Roman and Nolan. My family has been wonderful, thanks to my dad Bruce and my father in law John J. Bednar for coming to the meets and being so supportive. As far as training influences, in no particular order, I have to thank all of the warriors at the Iron Chamber Gym, Jay Bednar, Doug Noebe, Chane Cline, Tom "Duke" Ramnytz, Jim Smith, Nick Roman, Brandon Long, DJ Willaman, Jeff Peshek, Jeff Good, Paul Vargo, Don Miskinis, Chucky Venturella, John Kelly, Ken Anderson for the greatest bench shirts on the planet, Gus Rethwisch, Ron Deamicis, Elite Delivery Technologies, Engineered Sports Science, Slaughterhouse Gym, the Southside Barbell crew and everyone at the Stark County Sheriff's Office. Also, I am forever indebted to Alan Thomas and the incredible products offered by APT Pro Wrist Straps. I know thats a lot but I would be nowhere without these people. Thanks so much to all of you, I will never be able to let you know how much you mean to me. Your the best." Embarking onward toward the future, Jeff seems hellbent on continuing the journey he started. His relentless work ethic and intensity, combined with the training partners and support staff he has surrounded himself with seem a perfect recipe foir success. "I am honored to have the opportunity to represent Alan and APT Pro Wrist Straps" says Begue. "I look forward to the opportunity and to what the future holds". Judging by the past...the future holds nothing but success.
