John Sanders Powerelifter Powerlifting Sponsored by APT Pro Gear

Born in Maryland in 1968. I moved to Pennsylvania when I was five years old. I was active with sports throughout grade school and high school. After graduating high school, I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps Reserves. I was active with the Marines Corps Reserves from 1990 - 1994. When my service ended, I began my career as a Correctional Officer. Fourteen years later I am still working in Prison.
I began training with Rob Harris when I was 19 years old. In the beginning I trained more as a bodybuilder than anything. As time went on I transferred to Powerlifting. In 2002, I began training with Jared Menne and Wallace Mcfarland at a gym in PA. Through the years our numbers grew and real progress began. In 2004, with the help of Mike Miller and Brian Weston my Bench Press rose from 500 LBS to almost 600 LBS. Using theses training methods I accomplished my first 700 LBS Bench Press in April 2007. I was ranked #43 as recognized by Powerlifting USA for a 715 LBS Bench Press. In December 2007, I hit a 760 LBS Bench Press and a near miss at 800. Obviously my goal for 2008 is to break 800 and go beyond anything I thought was imaginable for me. I would like to thank everone who helped me along the way, as without them this would not be possible
