National Veterans Wheelchair Games, http://www1.va.gov/vetevent/nvwg/2008/ to be held in Omaha Nebraska. I would like to take this opportunity to tell you and your company a little about myself. I served in the Marine Corps from 83 - 87 I was struck with friendly fire while serving with I Co. 3rd Battalion 5th Marines, 1str Marine Division. While serving as a squad leader (0311) there was an ammunition mix up during a training exercise, as a result of my injury I suffered a below knee amputation and was medically retired from the Marine Corps. Since losing my leg I remained active in many sports to include weight lifting. In 2000 - 2002 I represented the United States as a member of the USA Amputee Hockey team, and In 2002 I was the only Veteran to play on the USA Standing Amputee Hockey team at the Paralympics Games in Salt Lake City. last year's results from the 2007 National Veteran Wheelchair Games; I will be competing as a Class V (lower leg amputee) in the Masters Division. http://www1.va.gov/vetevent/nvwg/2007/EventResults.cfm?EName=Weightlifting%20By%20Bodyweight
My opening lift will be what won last years open division; I will be competing as a heavyweight over 220
Since being retired from the Marine Corps I have worked for the department of Veterans Affairs, and use my position as the Chief, Prosthetics Network 04 to motivate other Veterans who are amputees.
