Big Al receives international award
Well Known Big County strongman Alastair 'Big Al' Christie was last month presented with the RobertUniverse.com 'Athlete of the Month' Award.
Alastair (33), from Stanley, who has competed for the coveted Scotland's Strongest Man and Britain's Strongest Man titles, is taking part in an ongoing 36-week international natural weightlifting case study involving participants from all over the world.
The study, measuring the effects that essential fatty acids (EFAs) have on the performance, health and general well-being of strength athletes, is being conducted by Canadian-based RobertUniverse.com in collaboration with Flora Health.
After receiving his award, Alastair said: "I am honoured to be chosen as the RobertUniverse.com Athlete of the Month.
"I would like to thank my family for the support and encouragement they give me, Jamie Barr for his assistance with my training and Diane Robert, of RobertUniverse.com, for the great work she is doing for the study.
"Thanks are also due to Arnold Clark Citroen, Simon Howie Butchers, Mountain Supplies, APT's Pro Wrist Straps, Pullum Sports and Savant Health for their support."
