We have designed this dumbbell to be weight loadable by adding shot, BB's, sand or a combination of to bring the weight to your desired level. We have had MonsterBells up to 166 lbs by adding 50 lbs of shot in each head of the dumbbell and then topping it off with sand. Fill it all the way up with shot and it will most likely climb up to 185 lbs
