Men's Health Magazine Names Local Gym In Everett, MA
One Of America's Top 20

(Everett, MA)  Total Performance Sports, a small, local gym in Everett, MA, was just named one of America's Top 20 Gyms by Men's Health magazine in its September 2005 issue.  This is just one in a string of recent accolades for the tiny facility that specializes in personal training, power lifting, martial arts and strongman conditioning.

According to the article, "This facility has a one track training mission: getting stronger.  Owner C.J. Murphy's unique approach blends everything from powerlifting to kickboxing in order to give every client maximum muscle, regardless of experience level."

That has certainly proved true for this gym.  Turning out a slew of World Record Powerlifters and National Strongman/Strongwoman qualifiers this year alone, Total Performance Sports is quickly rising to the top in the power sports arena and gaining national recognition for its unique approach to strength and conditioning.

However, Murphy is quick to point out that the majority of clients at Total Performance Sports are everyday people looking to get into shape and take their fitness to the next level.  Personal training and kickboxing classes are his most popular offerings and his trainers provide the framework behind it all.

"We only want the best trainers at Total Performance and so all of our trainers are International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA) certified and required to go through an extensive "internship" training program before taking on their own clients.  Plus, all of our personal training programs are organized into a comprehensive system based on the individual's goals, fitness level and ability as well as their experience and skill," says Murphy.  "This allows us to ensure that clients are teamed up with the right trainers for their particular goals."

Murphy takes the same approach to the multiple martial arts disciplines he offers.  In addition to being licensed Amateur Boxing Coaches with USA Boxing and certified with the ISSA, each martial arts instructor is cross-trained in several disciplines including jiu-jitsu, kick boxing, Modern Arnis, Muay Thai and boxing.

Men's Health is the largest men's lifestyle magazine brand in the world, with a worldwide circulation of nearly 4 million in 28 editions serving 36 countries. Published 10 times a year in the U.S. by Rodale, a global leader in healthy, active-living information, Men's Health speaks to every aspect of a man's life, providing its readers with the latest information on health, fitness, fashion, nutrition, relationships, travel and money.

C.J. 'Murph' Murphy M.F.S., S.S.C.,C.F.T., is the owner and head instructor at T.P. Sports.  He holds a Master of Fitness Science, a Certified Strength Coach, Youth Fitness Trainer, and Certified Personal Trainer, all through the I.S.S.A.  He has over fifteen years of teaching experience in multiple martial arts disciplines including jiu-jitsu, kick boxing, and Modern Arnis.  He is also a licensed boxing coach with U.S.A. Boxing, a competitive Strongman athlete, and a Powerlifter.
